COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Shell companies have been exploring for and producing hydrocarbons for over a century. Today, Exploration & Production (EP) employs some 17,000 people worldwide and has interests in ventures in 36 different countries. This is a technically challenging work environment characterised by research and the pursuit of new ways of working. It demands people who will thrive in a culture that encourages and rewards innovation, collaboration and the ability to learn from success as well as failure. Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) is the major EP company in the Sultanate of Oman. It accounts for more than 90% of the country's crude oil production and nearly all of its natural gas supply. The company is owned by the Government of Oman, the Royal Dutch/Shell Group, Total and Partex. The first economic find of oil was made in 1962, and the first consignment of oil was exported in 1967. To sustain our growth, we're committed to acting ethically, responsibly and environmentally. Everyone in PDO is encouraged to spot new opportunities, challenge the conventional wisdom and recommend improvements to the way our business works. This means you'll have the chance to make a positive difference as you help to ensure that the world we leave to future generations is one we can be proud of. We're currently looking to recruit three Production System Optimisation Engineers to join our team in Muscat.
DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities :
As one of our Production System Optimisation Engineers, you'll have a wide
range of important responsibilities, including the following:
* Auditing compliance with design operating envelopes and updating relevant inputs
* Maintaining an updated portfolio of surface optimisation opportunities
* Highlighting and correcting facility under-performance. This includes operations outside the operating envelope or with integrity constraints, regular deferment by low availability or limitations of equipment, monitoring deviations in process conditions, poor performance of plant controls, unnecessary operator intervention and the occurrence of trips with major deferment or unusually high recurrence
* Initiating corrective action, including the issuing of maintenance requests, the initiation and provision of actual data for technical studies and event analyses, the mobilisation of specialist support groups, raising field change proposals and on-the-job training of Operations personnel
* The facilitation of improvement implementation, in close liaison with the Process Control and Optimisation section and the Concept and Project Engineering teams
* Providing regular advice and support to Operations on plant performance issues and operating envelope compliance
* Providing in-depth analysis of the events and trips that cause major deferments or have an unusually high recurrence
* Developing ideas and/or economically attractive proposals on how to improve the operation and/or debottleneck plant constraints
* Notifying stakeholders of actual performance problems
* Providing feedback to stakeholders on the progress or blockers of improvement implementation activities
* Providing local staff with on-the-job facilities optimisation training.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Requirements :
With an BSc or MSc in chemical engineering, process engineering or process control, you'll have a minimum of 10 years' practical experience of process control and process engineering, in the oil and gas or petrochemical industries (preferably). Experience of EP would be preferred, and you should have a proven record of delivering creative solutions to overcome process constraints.
